July 2022: Thornhill Medical Supports US Army Medical Modernization Strategy

Thornhill Medical strongly supports the US Army’s Medical Modernization Strategy which was released on July 7, 2022 and pictured Thornhill Medical’s MOVES® SLC™ as part of its announcement. We stand ready to be a valued partner in the transformation of the Army Health System.

Included in the strategy is the need for advanced medical technology to reduce the size, weight, cube and power requirements with cost efficiency to enable multi-domain operations (MDO).  Consistent with this strategy, Thornhill Medical’s MOVES® SLC™ is the only micro-integrated life support system that combines an oxygen (O2) concentrator, a unique O2-conserving ventilator, suction, and complete vital signs monitoring in a single compact, rugged, portable, battery-operated system, which operates without bulky O2 cylinders.

The 22-page US Army Medical Modernization Strategy also calls for AI-enabled monitoring capability to enable rapid assessment and efficient utilization of resources. Thornhill Medical, through an award from the U.S. Department of Defense Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC), is currently using our MOVES® SLC™ with other technologies to safely meet critical care demand using remotely controlled and eventually autonomous medical devices, in preparation for prolonged care in near-peer multi-domain conflicts. Read more about a recent demonstration where clinical professionals located in Seattle, WA remotely operated a MOVES® SLC™ located in Toronto, Canada – more than 2,500 miles between clinician and patient- simulating a successful remote controlled patient evacuation scenario.

As the US army modernizes military medicine, Thornhill Medical will continue our innovative work and commitment to being future-ready, today.

About MOVES® SLC™

MOVES® SLC™ extends the critical care window on the battlefield of today and tomorrow. The micro-integrated technology combines an oxygen concentrator, a unique O2-conserving ventilator, suction and complete vital signs monitoring in a single, rugged, portable, battery-powered unit without the need for heavy, dangerous oxygen tanks. MOVES® SLC™ builds upon the functionality of the first-generation MOVES®, which is the current Portable Patient Transport Life Support System (PPTLSS) deployed by the United States Marine Corps.
