During a recent U.S. National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) demonstration, MOVES^® SLC™ reinforced its role as a truly dual‑use life‑support system, capable of delivering ICU‑level care during large‑scale civilian emergencies. The exercise formed part of a multi‑year NDMS pilot project focused on designing and validating rapidly deployable modular medical facilities that can expand surge capacity during national disasters.

In the demonstration, MOVES SLC was integrated into a prototype Modular Surge Unit (MSU)—a flexible medical facility designed for rapid activation at partner hospitals and temporary care sites. Operating within space and resource‑constrained environments, MOVES SLC functioned as a mobile ICU platform across both general medical-surgical and intensive-care configurations. Its compact, battery‑powered design and oxygen independence supported rapid setup and sustained critical care where traditional infrastructure cannot be assumed.

The exercise also highlighted emerging capabilities such as centralized patient monitoring and multi‑patient telemetry, reinforcing how mobility and interoperability can improve clinical workflows in high‑tempo surge operations.
